Beach Chic

Bikinis, tankinis and all-in-one swimsuits are all we hear about when it comes to dressing for the beach. But it’s pretty hard (unless your hotel or apartment is located right on the beach front) to get there without adding an extra item or two to the outfit.

Now, obviously on the beach your bathing suit is the main attraction, but for those moments when you want to be covered up there are so many different choices.

TS03Q09LGYM_Zoom_M_1From simple see-through mesh dresses, such as TOPSHOP’s festival cover-up, to a more day-to-day style like ZARA’s striped number, that is adorned with embroidery, puffy sleeves and tassels you’ll be dressed for whatever the holiday brings.

For covering up at the beach simple style kaftans and maxi dresses are the easiest go to option. Just throw it on and you’re ready to grab an ice cream or nip to the bar. With such simple items the need to splash out on expensive items isn’t necessary, as there are many reasonably priced pieces of clothing available in high street stores.

ASOS and H&M have simple beach throw-ons in all different colours and lengths, all under £30; perfect to store away in your summer drawer after your holiday for next year!

For those of us who are looking to tan the top half and keep our delicate legs covered due to sunburn, awkward length trousers are the perfect solution for both comfort and style.

ZARA5Last summer TOPSHOP brought out a range of plisse fabric trousers and many other brands on the high street followed. The thin fabric and loose fit of these trousers keep you cool and comfortable in the not so cool heat.

Such loose style trousers are the perfect day-to-night item requiring the minimal amount of effort to style on holiday. ZARA’s yellow linen culottes are easy to wear with a bikini at the beach and a simple cami top for dinner – not just a throwaway beach item.

While most people focus on the swimwear and cover-ups when packing for a summer holiday, it’s hard to remember some of the smaller essentials you might need, not only to protect you and your valuables from the sun, but also to stay on trend.

Hats are one of the most popular accessories this summer and they can serve a triple, yes triple purpose. They not only make you look fashionable, they also keep your hair off your face to enable you to get the best tan you can, and stop any pos

sible sunstroke from hitting you. Whether you wear a simple New Era cap or a gorgeous Eugenia Kim ‘Talk to the sand’ floppy hat, you’ll be the most stylish at the beach.
